Mission Statement

Our goal is to advance both ex situ and in situ amphibian conservation through evidence based research. In a time of crisis for amphibians worldwide we have very little knowledge about these beautiful animals; where they live, what they eat, how they protect themselves from disease. While conservation of amphibians in their natural habitats is always the preferred option it is clear that in some cases we need to 'rescue' species by establishing ex situ populations, but we know so little about the needs of many species that this is a challenge in itself. Our research focuses on four main themes:

Ecology and Behaviour
Biodiversity
Genetics and Biogeography
Captive Husbandry
